There are the photographs everyone knows are coming.
The dress. The rings. The kiss. The family lined up together, briefly looking in the same direction.
I take those photographs. They matter.
But some of my favorites are the ones nobody asked me to take.
Your father standing alone before walking you down the aisle. Your grandmother watching you dance. A flower girl asleep under a table. Your best friend laughing so hard she's crying.
These moments aren't on a shot list. They can't be scheduled.
And if I interrupt them, they're gone.
So I watch.
A wedding is one of the rare days when nearly everyone you love is in the same place at the same time. Years from now, the photograph that matters most may not be the beautiful portrait we spent fifteen minutes creating.
It may be someone you love reaching across the dinner table.
That's what I'm there to photograph.
